Scope toggles
Decide whether an edit changes every format, or just the one you're on.
Next to every setting in the inspector is a small dot. It decides where your edit lands: on every format, or on just the one you're looking at.
The three states
| Dot | What it means |
|---|---|
| Hollow | Applies to every format. Editing it changes the shared value. |
| Filled gray | Naturally varies per format (position, size, font size). |
| Filled blue | You chose to override this on this format. |
Why it's useful
A headline at 80px on the square might need to be 64px on the story to fit. Click the font-size dot so it turns blue, make your change, and it lands on the story only. Switch back to the square and the headline is still 80px.
Resetting
Each setting has a "reset" link that clears whichever scope is active. Reset on a blue dot drops the per-format override. Reset on a hollow dot clears the shared value and falls back to your brand.
When an element has real per-format overrides, a dot lights up on the format tab and on the layer, and a small banner appears in the inspector with a "reset all" link to wipe that format's overrides in one go.
