AI credits
What uses credits, what's free, and how the monthly allowance works.
Credits are how braaand meters the cost of AI. Roughly, one credit is a third of a cent of AI spend. Each paid plan comes with a monthly allowance:
- Plus: 5,000 credits a month.
- Team: 25,000 a month, shared across the org.
Free gets none. The five-upload auto-tagging trial on Free is separate and doesn't touch credits.
What uses credits
Anything that asks an AI to think for you:
- The built-in agent, on every turn of a chat.
- Auto-tagging an asset on upload (Plus and Team), to fill in tags, a description, and the image's focal point.
- The layout, copy, and image helpers the agent calls behind the scenes.
- Setting up a brand from a manual, and other steps that wrap an AI helper.
What's free
- Rendering to images.
- The editor: dragging, resizing, typing, snapping.
- Uploading assets (storage covers the space, not credits).
- Every plain action through the connector or command line: render, edit, list, and so on.
How the monthly allowance works
The allowance refills on a 30-day cycle, separate from your billing date. So even on an annual plan you get a fresh batch every month, not one lump once a year. The first batch arrives the moment your plan starts.
When you run out
The next AI step stops with a clear message, and a banner points you to top up or upgrade. Plain actions and uploads keep working; uploads just skip the auto-tagging. If two AI steps fire at once when you only have credits for one, the first goes through and the second is told there aren't enough, cleanly, with no double charges.
Watching usage
Your billing page shows your balance and what's left this month. The admin view lists every credit movement with the brand it came from.
